Choirbook of the Burgundian Court Chapel
B-Brussel, Koninklijke Bibliotheek, Ms. 5557
These 12 gatherings date from between 1462-6 and 1480 and were afterwards bound into this bulky choirbook, richly adorned with miniatures. The entire work was probably written and used in the Burgundian court chapel in Bruges. It contains in any case the coats of arms of the Burgundian dukes Philip the Good and Charles the Bold. This exceedingly important manuscript, which is considered to be one of the most important of the second half of the 15th century, contains no less than 11 masses, 3 magnificats, 1 hymn and 7 motets composed by Busnois, Dufay, Frye, Ockeghem and others.
