Fiddlers book from Tongeren
B-Tongeren Basiliek, Ms.
We find in this fiddlers book – created between 1786 and 1824 – monophonic vocal and instrumental dances, songs and political pieces mixed with two-part pieces for two violins. Most works are anonymous with the exception of a few pieces by composers such as Pleyel and Mozart. The difficulty of the pieces varies from simple to very complex. A 30-page introduction completes this facsimile edition, which may be of great interest to folk musicians, musicologists and historians.
